Shifting out of state awareness and perception as a tourist destination.

Nevada faces an upward climb regarding outside awareness and perception as tourist destianation. The state is most often associated with Las Vegas, desert, and casinos. Recognition for Reno/Lake Tahoe is building, but little is known about the rest of Nevada. As a user stated during testing of the original website, their perception of Nevada was, “Basically Vegas, but if you go north, there is Reno and Tahoe, which are actually green and really beautiful.”

In reality, the culture and landscape are vastly more diverse and are often underestimated. It was important for the redesign to embrace the energetic and free-spirited nature of the Travel Nevada brand, so we ensured both the visuals and tone of voice of the website were in alignment with the brand while creating a stable and secure foundation for future growth.

Website Strategic Approach

  • Enable future visitors to Nevada to easily find the information they want.
  • Deliver visitors a consistent brand experience.
  • Enhance both the research and in market experience of visitors.
  • Implementation of new technology to enable dynamic content production and greater engagement.
  • Build with accessibility in mind, meeting the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0, Level AA, which was a top priority for the Travel Nevada team.

Website Design

In order to increase traffic to rural pages/businesses, top level pages were designed with visually rich and brief “snackable” content which guides users to partner pages. Tertiary pages focused on SEO and page load time to rank well for topicspecific search in Google and support visitors that are closer to booking their trip.
